“If things stay exactly as they are right now for the rest of your life, is this something you could live with?”

About a month ago, right before I completed my 50th revolution around the sun, I heard that question. Do you know the feeling when something really resonates with you? Yeah, that feeling you get right in the pit of your stomach, I’m sure most of us can relate! That is what I felt and still feel when I think about this question, which is just about on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I am truly blessed and extremely grateful for all that I have in my life, but to be honest, there are a couple areas that I am not satisfied with and would not want it to stay the same. These are things I tend to procrastinate on or push into the back of my mind because it will take me away from my comfort zone.

The next day I mentioned this question to a dear friend of mine and how I keep thinking about it, she then posed the question “What about if you only had a week, a month, or a year to live? Would you do things differently”? We both paused for a few seconds, it had an effect on her as well.

Since then, I incorporate this question with my clients and then present them with the Circle of Life. It is a handout I use to help people look at different aspects of their life which they can rate on a scale of 1-10. All of these aspects effect your overall health on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Let’s take a look at these areas: Spirituality, Creativity, Finances, Education, Career, Health, Physical Activity, Home Cooking, Home Environment, Relationships, Social Life, and Joy.

So, I challenge you, take a few minutes and give your Circle of Life a rating, is it where you want it to be? If not, can you live with it? If the answer is “No”, start jotting down some action steps to help yourself  move in the direction you would like to go. If you need help, please reach out, we can work on it together!
